Cu Chi organic farm and culinary school outing.

Just completed a very interesting cooking day tour. My tour guide was a lovely young woman who picked me up at my hotel in the morning on her motorbike and we rode about 1 hour to a farming area outside Saigon. I enjoyed seeing Saigon city life as we drove through town and eventually arrived in the Cu Chi countryside. My driver/guide was cheerful and helpful as I asked many questions about what we saw as we drove.

At the farm the chef and co-owner of the farm and culinary school took us on a very informative tour of the farm and it’s many vegetables, herbs, fruits. We met cows, pigs, ducks and water buffalo as we walked. We picked vegetable and herbs for our meal as we returned to the open-air restaurant school. There we worked with the chef preparing a 4-course meal. The whole process was fun and informative. And the food was “gourmet”… much better than that at the “top” restaurant our hotel had recommended the night before. I returned to Saigon with my lovely motorbike guide full of a great meal and memorable, educational experience.
